Inspired by bell hooks, Akua Naru’s latest album is a live-recorded masterpiece featuring old favorites like “Poetry: How Does It Feel?” and new tracks celebrating the enduring power of unconditional love. Backed by a large band and Ensemble Resonanz, the album explores the diverse facets of love.
Akua Naru, often referred to as the “Toni Morrison of Hip Hop”, creates poetic and insightful music that centers on the experiences of Black women. With four albums, including “The Blackest Joy” (2018), Naru’s upcoming collaborative LP with Ensemble Resonanz is set to release in Spring 2024.
